I have noticed that this issue is yet to be fixed, a recent update to nm-applet.desktop still has this issue. Please fix. I've found that this bug has regressed and returned on the production version of Trusty Tahr. All three of my rigs (two upgraded and one fresh install) are affected. The bug affects nm-applet and nautilus-dropbox for me. David, what do you mean by enable the notification area? Matthew, sorry about the incomplete information. I forgot to mention that I'm using gnome-panel and a gnome-flashback(ish) session (xmonad + gnome). It's in that context that I'm using indicator-applet-complete. It worked fine with saucy. Now, I had to add the notification-area applet to gnome-panel (alt-right click Add notification area). I can see the indicator-applet package in synaptic, and it's not marked as local or obsolete. Here's how the panel looks. See those icons that are really close together? That's because they're being shown in the notification area.
