[Bug 1419507] Re: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime
I just ran into this issue yesterday with a fresh install of Xubuntu 14.04.4 on a machine with nVidia 650m video. I can blindly type in password and then get to lightdm session when in nVidia mode. Switching to Intel mode the login works as it should. I'm able to run this way for now, but it's a show stopper issue for the average user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419507 Title: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-drivers-common/+bug/1419507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1419507] Re: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime
This still happens on 15.04. I have a ThinkPad E540 with Optimus graphics. Plugging in a HDMI display causes display to go blank. I found this blog posting which explains that the issue is related to gpu-manager not working correctly: http://vxlabs.com/2015/02/05/solving-the-ubuntu-14-04-nvidia-346-nvidia- prime-black-screen-issue/ This bug is a serious for people using laptops with NVidia Optimus as it's not possible to connect a HDMI monitor to the device. The solution in post above is way too complicated to be a good workaround. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419507 Title: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-drivers-common/+bug/1419507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1419507] Re: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime
This is really a bug in the intel driver, which usually works well with the nvidia driver. Also, to disable gpu-manager, there's no need to touch the upstart job (/etc/init/gpu-manager.conf), all you have to do is boot with the nogpumanager kernel parameter. ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-drivers-common (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1419507 Title: gpu-manager writes wrong driver in xorg.conf fro nvidia-prime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-drivers-common/+bug/1419507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
