[Bug 1556433] Re: Booting is taking too long to start from grub

2016-03-19 Thread Pavlushka
Fixed in 4.4.0-13 kernel release

** Description changed:

Booting takes to start almost three minutes after selecting Xubuntu Xenial.
But it does not happen for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS listed in the same menu.
Xubuntu is installed in a USB 3 external Harddisk and Ubuntu is installed in
internal Harddisk, but it was not happening for other installations.

2016-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Please press 'e' in the grub menu and drop the "quiet" and "splash"
options from the "linux" line, then press Ctrl+X to boot. Then you
should see better what's going on. Please make a screenshot then.

Right now the log looks perfectly normal, so I can't yet see anythign
wrong here.

[Bug 1556433] Re: Booting is taking too long to start from grub

2016-03-15 Thread Pavlushka
Trying to fix the problem without knowing much, I reinstalled grub on
external HD as usual and upgraded it again. and I am talking about
"After selecting and pressing Enter to boot Xubuntu Xenial, it waits
that long or sometimes even got stuck before booting". But not for
Ubuntu (internal) or my previous linux installations (external). My
booting is without splash screen because I disabled it in defaults, so
it shows loading and starting services. And you are talking about
screenshots? the screen remains just black in between. Thanks for
asking.

2016-03-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Or do you perhaps mean that there is some three-minute timeout in the
grub boot manager before it automatically boots Xubuntu? Please be more
specific in what you see. It might also be helpful to make a photo of
the screen where/when it's stuck and attach it here. Thanks!

Are you sure you attached the right journal? The kernel boots at
21:45:48, and lightdm finished starting at 21:46:00, which is a 12
second boot.

** Description changed:

But it does not happen for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS listed in the same menu.
Xubuntu is installed in a USB 3 external Harddisk and Ubuntu is installed in
internal Harddisk, but it was not happening for other installations. Like to
add, after the boot started, it loaded much quicker than Ubuntu, there is a
chance that the logs were stuck and appeared all at a time but may be this is
not the case.

** Description changed:

- Booting takes to start almost three minutes after selecting Xubuntu Xenial.
But it does not happen for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS listed in the same menu.
Xubuntu is installed in a USB 3 external Harddisk and Ubuntu is installed in
internal Harddisk, but it was not happening for other installations. Like to
add, after the boot started, it loaded much quicker than Ubuntu, there is a
chance that the logs were stuck and appeared all at a time but may be not in
this case.
