after a couple of attempts (almost always fails on first attempt) but
the last months it rarely show any indicator. It also, as stated earlier
by others in this thread, often stays active after turned off.

per comment #15 I confirm that the hotspot may stay active even after
disabling it in each toggle, which is a more serious issue imo.

My experience with this bug is that I use only the black-menu hotspot
button. I keep the network settings on my android tablet open to see
when it connects. I will give it a few seconds after each scan. If it
doesn't connect, I flip the hotspot button on my MX4 off and on again.

This si quite reproducible, if you have a chance to take a look I am
guessing its down in connectivity-api, maybe broke when NM 1.2 was
introduced back in may

I can confirm this bug on mx4 with OTA-13.
To get hotspot, first toggle in system settings needs to be flipped on and then
the toggle in the status menu needs to be toggled on. Only then does the
hotspot work and the hotspot icon appear in the status bar.

It doesn't matter which way round you activate the buttons, both need to

the two Hotspots buttons
Bug reporter says the button in System Settings works and that the
button in the indicator does not. Either way, unless there's API
breakage, this is not something we can fix in System Settings.

Hi Jonas,
Thanks for the replay and the tip about the logs, here they are :
I first tried to use the button in the black menu that you make appear from
above (failure)
then I used the hotspot button in the settings menu (success)

report?
