[Bug 1623194] Re: Permanent I/O from kworker and ecryptfs

2016-09-16 Thread Sworddragon
The issue appeared after changing from upstart to systemd a few days
before so I can't tell you if this worked with a prior kernel and
systemd. But with upstart I have never seen this behavior before.

The issue still appears on the linked upstream kernel
(4.8.0-040800rc6-generic) and the kernel from xenial (linux-
image-4.4.0-36-generic).

Also, does this issue go away if you boot back into the prior kernel
version?

2016-09-15 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.8 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

2016-09-13 Thread Sworddragon
Since this ticket got changed from systemd to linux it seems to be a
kernel bug. I wonder what the change from upstart to systemd caused to
reveal this issue. Anyways, in this case it could make more sense to
forward this to upstream so I have done this:
