[Bug 1696735] Re: package libgssapi-krb5-2:i386 1.13.2+dfsg-5ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting configuration

2017-09-18 Thread Andreas Hasenack
You should go to a terminal and run these commands:

sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install

Then we can see which package is causing problems.

But since this is a new installation, could you please show what error
you got, and then I can try suggesting something again?

You can try:

sudo apt install --reinstall libgssapi-krb5-2:i386

(I suspect the above won't work either, but it's worth a try)

If that doesn't fix it, then, from that askubuntu question/answer:

sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq libgssapi-krb5-2:i386

sudo apt install libgssapi-krb5-2:i386

Hrm ...
since the normal first try via install -f didn't help you might try following
[1] adapted to your package.
That should resolve the "inconsistent state" issue and if you run into a
different issue after that please let us know here.

Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

Could you please try the following:

sudo apt -f install

It's a bit odd that you have a 64bit system but have the 32bit version
of the libgssapi-krb5-2 package, something else must have pulled that in
explicitly.
