@IBM, do the patches that were included in the PPA in comment #14 completely address a discrete issue? Or do we need to wait for further patches to be identified and upstreamed? Considering that only one of the two fixes mentioned in comment #11 are applied to the bionic kernel, I've uploaded a new test kernel here https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~arighi/LP-1752002/ with both fixes applied. I 'think' that this bug can be closed, since it looks to me that the issue was solved with kernel 4.15.0-10.11 and higher and we shipped 4.15.0.20.23 with bionic GA.
