Public bug reported:

I installed GIMP via flatpak. When I open GIMP, what I say in the
summary above happens. I raised the problem on a GIMP users list. I was
told that the same thing does NOT happen when GIMP is installed via
flatpak in Fedora. The person who gave me that information also reported
a bug to flatpak based on what I'd said, but flatpak closed the bug,
claiming that the error isn't a flatpak error, but a Ubuntu error. Hence
this report.
