[Bug 1762812] Re: /dev/ipmi enumeration flaky on Cavium Sabre nodes

2018-04-27 Thread Brad Figg
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
artful' to 'verification-done-artful'. If the problem still exists,
change the tag 'verification-needed-artful' to 'verification-failed-
artful'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

[Bug 1762812] Re: /dev/ipmi enumeration flaky on Cavium Sabre nodes

2018-04-10 Thread dann frazier
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
There are several stability issues with the i2c-xlp9xxx that cause
communication issues between the host and the BMC, leading to unpredictable
results when the ipmi-ssif module tries to enumerate the device (/dev/ipmi0).

  [Test Case]
Reboot the system several times, each time verifying that /dev/ipmi0 is
present and functional (e.g. using 'sudo ipmitool lan print').
+ *** Note that systems need to be running firmware 6.2 or greater ***

  [Regression Risk]
All patches are clean cherry picks from upstream, restricted to a driver that
is only used on this platform in Ubuntu (also used on some MIPS platforms, for
which we have no port).
