[Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug
Thanks for the suggestion. I have however not enabled the mainline PPA (yet). This morning was the first, since the upgrade to Ubuntu 18.10, time that both monitors worked directly after booting into Xorg. The kernel in use was linux-image-4.18.0-14-generic (now upgraded to linux- image-4.18.0-15-generic and still working monitors). [Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug
Why is the bug still marked incomplete? I have provided the apport information. ** Description changed: - After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in my one of my two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other external display. + After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in one of my two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other external display. The display settings app shows the second display as inactive, and when trying to activate the settings app states that some hardware limitation stops it from being possible to apply the change. The laptop lid is closed, the internal laptop display is not active. Hotplugging the other external display solves the problem - after hotplug both external displays are active. This makes the bug annoying but workaroundable. I am not sure if this bug belongs to the Xorg package or the linux package.
