[Bug 1822026] Re: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded
sorry, 5.1 won't help either, it's apparently a bug in the firmware and the only way to "fix" it is to use nouveau.modeset=0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822026 Title: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1822026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1822026] Re: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded
upstream actually suggested earlier to disable nouveau modeset by default, so that it would have to be explicitly enabled if needed.. and it usually isn't, since it's more or less just getting in the way when trying to get the system installed with the NVIDIA driver -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822026 Title: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1822026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1822026] Re: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded
Just to make sure, I updated the BIOS of this device from 1.4.2 to 1.7.0. However, the same problems arise. Please find dmesg from an updated BIOS with nouveau drivers activated (i.e. default mode) ** Attachment added: "dmesg_nouveau_activated_biosv1.7.0.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822026/+attachment/5249990/+files/dmesg_nouveau_activated_biosv1.7.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822026 Title: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is the dmesg I get when booting with 19.04 beta and the default parameters (i.e. nouveau activated) on this device. ** Attachment added: "dmesg_nouveau_activated.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822026/+attachment/5249979/+files/dmesg_nouveau_activated.log ** Description changed: When I boot the Disco 19.04 beta live USB, I can see a lot of errors related to nouveau in dmesg. This archive contains the data gathered by sosreport from a live session when nouveau is blacklisted. You may have to `sudo tar xvf sosreport-ubuntu-20190328033617.tar.xz` to be able to extract it. ** Attachment added: "sosreport-ubuntu-20190328033617.tar.xz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822026/+attachment/5249977/+files/sosreport-ubuntu-20190328033617.tar.xz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822026 Title: Live USB freezes or cannot complete install when nouveau driver is loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1822026/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
