Oh my god. With pure GNOME Shell I have got the video with black screen. It is bug of this session on any system (I noticed this, when I had used Debian 10 GNOME). Can you try a GNOME session on Ubuntu and see if it has the issue? I think that it's problem of modified by Canonical the GNOME Shell.
