Again, on synaptic there is a "desktop-file-utils" update. I posted because I didn't noticed it in any other previous version of 20.04. Maybe I just didn't and it is a feature as you say. I do not really know. Till today everything was up to date everywhere. Now again: 1. update-manager: no updates 2. snap-store (default ubuntu-software): no updates 3. gnome-software (I install it to test it): no updates 4. synaptic: 9 updates (found same as 'apt update' command through terminal 5. terminal/apt update & upgrade found those: gir1.2-nm-1.0 libnm0 network-manager network-manager-config-connectivity-ubuntu xserver-common xserver-xephyr xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-legacy xwayland Also checked florian-will's command: $ apt list --upgradable | wc -l WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. How long should this process of phasing in updates take? update-manager
tells me I'm up to date on 20.04, but:
$ apt list --upgradable | wc -l
WARNING: apt does not have a stable CLI interface. Use with caution in

It looks like I get all the focal-security updates through update-
manager though, since the list contains focal-updates packages only. I
know about that setting in the "Applications & Updates" tool
("Anwendungen & Aktualisierungen" in German, not sure about the English
name) where we can choose between notification / auto download / auto
install for security updates and other updates. However, that option is
set to "Sofort anzeigen" ("display immediately") for both security and
other updates.
Disclaimer: This Ubuntu install was installed from 12.10 install media
and has been updated since then, so my settings could be a bit off.
Also, I removed snapd and therefore I don't have any kind of ubuntu-
store or gnome-software installed, only synaptic and update-manager,
maybe that's causing the issue? However, it used to work fine in 19.10.

Update Manager not showing all available updates is a feature, not a bug. Updates are rolled out in phases, to slow down the roll out and have a chance to catch crashes and hold the updates before rolling out to everyone. It also happens at a new install of Ubuntu 20.04.
