[Bug 1919250] Re: [ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT] [ELAN1200:00 04F3:30BA] touchpad freeze or disable itself after laptop go to suspend

2021-08-23 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, it sounds like some kernel version after 5.8 has fixed this. We
don't need to know which version if it's just confirmed to be fixed in
the next release: Ubuntu 21.10.

P.S. Ubuntu 20.10 is no longer supported so if you wish to report any
more issues then please make sure you are using either Ubuntu 21.04 or
20.04.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)

Re: [Bug 1919250] Re: [ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT] [ELAN1200:00 04F3:30BA] touchpad freeze or disable itself after laptop go to suspend

2021-08-21 Thread Solaris
Daniel,
I test impish 21.10 dvd live dvd,
I Did not find any issue beside errors during boot.
this was pure live, but the question remains if it was an update from an
older version with all customized environments, would it behave the same?

2021-08-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please try a newer kernel:

  https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D

or just try live booting the latest preview of 21.10 from USB:

  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

We would like to know if the issue is already fixed in some kernel
version newer than 5.8.

Re: [Bug 1919250] Re: [ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT] [ELAN1200:00 04F3:30BA] touchpad freeze or disable itself after laptop go to suspend

2021-08-01 Thread Solaris
I knew my dear, 20.04 is older but more stable; exactly for this reason I
got back to old one. It was unwise of me to upgrade distro to 20.10
(newer), usually it has more bugs.
To answer your question, there is not any problem with 20.04 LTS, for now,
but if start to add gnome extensions (I do not know which one)
More probably is gone destabilize the system.
I had this suspicious before that there are several conflicts when one add
additional features of gnome with Ubuntu desktop vs without them, because
before I was using LTS before upgrade and I found some instability when I
started to add gnome extensions to Unity. I'm not gonna do that again.

LTS is older than 20.10, not newer. Does 21.04 have the problem?

2021-07-31 Thread Solaris
