Thanks for reporting. I tried reproducing and could not reproduce the
issue in a fresh Jammy system.
It seems you have a different "ddclient.service" and a different
"ddclient" than what Ubuntu provides.
Your report shows you have:
1. /etc/systemd/system/ddclient.service
2. /usr/local/sbin/ddclient
which are not shipped by Ubuntu.
Ubuntu will have these files at: "/lib/systemd/system/ddclient.service"
and "/usr/sbin/ddclient".
Can you please check and confirm. I am marking the bug as Incomplete,
