Re: [Bug 2141249] Re: Bug with rtw89-8852bu driver on 6.17.0-14 kernel

2026-02-24 Thread Gia
Hello. Good day. I apologize for my late response.

I installed "mainline" and ran tests on Kernel 6.19.3. I've attached the
screenshots below.

Everything works fine on kernel 6.19.3...the antenna is recognized
immediately...it connects automatically and browses without problems. I ran
a speed test and it's at 290 Mbps, which is my 802.11ac connection.

Then I completely shut down the computer...waited 10 minutes...rebooted
back in with 6.19.3 and everything was perfect...I ran other tests and it
seems to be working fine.

The green antenna light isn't on...but it works perfectly. It doesn't light
up on Windows 11 either, and it works...so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for your support. I sincerely appreciate it.

[Bug 2141249] Re: Bug with rtw89-8852bu driver on 6.17.0-14 kernel

2026-02-22 Thread Cengiz Can
Do you have some extra disk space? We need to verify following:

1) On your current installation (which is not an officially supported
Ubuntu flavor btw) can you try running a newer mainline kernel build?
(Remember, this is not recommended for day to day use).

Here's the wiki page explaining how to do that:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

2) Can you install Ubuntu Noble Numbat 24.04.4 official image on a clean
partition, boot, switch to HWE kernel, and check if the issue still
persists?

I know these are not trivial but we need to have a clear untainted
Ubuntu instance running on your hardware in order to weed out the other
possibilities.

Thanks!

Hi. Thanks for your answer.

I've attached images of the tests you've told me.

Yes I've completely deleted de external DKMS driver... actually I only have
the inside one.

You can view my tests.

Thanks.

Hello gianni3

Can you confirm you're actually using the in-kernel driver and not the
morrownr one?

Can you share the output of these commands:

  modinfo rtw89_8852bu

  dkms status

  lsmod | grep rtw

Just want to make sure the OOT driver is fully out of the picture before
we dig further.

If you update the morrownr/rt89 driver, then it should build with the
6.17 kernel. Run git pull from the source tree (or delete it and re-
clone it).
