I have the same problem. Sometimes, the switcher will not show window
titles. Also, sometimes the switcher will expand to show five
thumbnails, especially when a second monitor is attached to my laptop,
and the switcher panel border does not expand to cover all five
thumbnails.

For my current user it still has some problems. When there's only one window
and I alt+tab the first time it appears normal, but the second time i hit
alt+tab it screws things up. See the attached screenshot.
I tried it from a newly created user and i couldn't reproduce the problem.

Here is another screenshot. This time the box that displays the titles
is showing but it's smaller than the list of windows. It may be
something related.
