the previous comments, we need to investigate the problem further.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and include a patch. I
tried recreating the bug report and was able to slow down time until it
stopped on the Jaunty Jackalope. I was wondering if you were running
Celestia on i386 or amd64. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but as explained I filed a big report with authors of celestia - it
has been ignored.
I guess just patch up the Ubuntu version to stop this behaviour.
