Thanks a lot, Jonathan, for your very helpful comment. Indeed, I installed (by mistake) a package that depended on ubuntu-mobile- default-settings. How many different Window managers do you have running and which styles do you have enabled (KDE, GNOME, etc) and/or compiz?
