Scott Kitterman, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? ** Description changed: I have a E6320 with a swappable DVD/CD reader/writer (swaps with the second battery). Under precise it's not recognized when it's hot plugged it's not recognized. The computer needs to be restarted for it to be recognized. If it's in place when the system is booted, then it's recognized fine. Hot plugging worked unter natty and oneiric (I didn't have this system before that). + + WORKAROUND: If I unplug and replug the device once it's been booted with + it, then it works. Slight update... It seems to only be unable to detect it if there's no or blank media in the drive.
