Could you please send output of those commands: $ lsusb $ dmesg $ xawtv -hwscan Also check if your video recorder is properly detected and device's node are created under /dev/video*. Microphone and SD reader cannot be handled by xawtv/webcam. You should report this problems to kernel maintainers (card reader) or ALSA maintainers (microphone).
