Also bare in mind that if one re-enables the bell event, that Martin disabled in the fix of libgnome, the beep/bell event is played as a sound event, and once the kernel issue is fixed, it will not be a horrible system screech like many of you have experienced. -- Overuse of system beep without

Gals/Guys, please do not use this bug report as a means to spew vitriolic bits. This bug report has a clear description, has clearly identified Karmic tasks, and has clear progress indicators for those tasks. In other words, it is narrow in scope, we know what's broken, and we're fixing them.
