I am worried about this, especially in the enterprise environment
people do want to access corporate mail.
I am also worried as to what will be the default URL handler for
Hi all,
Given the recent Ubuntu desktop changes I suspect we'll have some people
attending GUADEC 2017 [1] this year. The talk submissions close 23rd April
(i.e. in four days). Not sure if anyone knows yet if they'll be there / has
something appropriate Ubuntu / GNOME related they can write up in
I'm supportive of not including an email client by default given the
current selection. If there was a light-weight client available with good
features (e.g. Geary) I think there would be a decision but the listed
candidates are too big / old.
I think if there's no client though there should be
In 2011, we switched Ubuntu's default email client from Evolution to

As a follow-up from today's meeting, I wrote up an initial list of
universe packages we need in main and that therefore need Main
Inclusion Requests (MIRs). I used a wiki so we can keep track of which
MIRs have been filed and make updates to the list.
Thanks Seb and Will for running the meeting, and to everyone who
participated. If you weren't there you can find a summary and links below.
# Decisions
1. Dropping patches will be done by consensus, using LP & IRC for reviews
2. Get started with a GNOME session working with apps as they are, and
Hey Seb, I can't make today's meeting but will endeavor to follow up on
any emails. I assume jbicha will be there though.
Looking forward to the more formal meeting, which hopefully can be at a
slightly better time slot than the normal desktop meetings for me;)

PS my exodus from the
Hey there,
Due to the recent changes we are not going to have a normal team-round
status update style meeting today.
We are going to keep the slot (15h30UTC on IRC #ubuntu-desktop) though
and start discussing a bit what should be the next steps to take to move
Ubuntu Desktop to GNOME in z+1.
