Following the announcement on ubuntu-devel I have installed
unity-system-compositor as described in [1] (I did not previously have
the testing ppa enabled). The machine boots and appears to be running
ok and
ps aux | grep unity-system-compositor
shows it to be running. However
grep -i xmir
