Ubuntu 12.04.3 is due in august and, as part of the LTS Enablement Stack
program, it will ship with Raring's kernel 3.8
This new kernel includes DRBD v8.4.2, but the DRBD utils shipped in Precise are
version 8.3.11. They will not work with the new kernel: please check Bug

In order to have configuration management tools like salt manage the
keepalived service, the init script has to have a 'status' function.
I've made a basic 'status' function patch for /etc/init.d/keepalived
based on keepalived 1:1.2.2-3ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LT. See
The attachment patch for /etc/init.d/keepalived, adding 'status'
function seems to be a patch. If it isn't, please remove the patch
flag from the attachment, remove the patch tag, and if you are a
member of the ~ubuntu-reviewers, unsubscribe the team.
