If you having the DVD of ubuntu 7.10 then you can get the Wvdial package
you can install it easily
just search in the DVD it will get .deb package

recently posted a mail on the BSNl Huawei ETS 2288 not working on
Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10.
Since then managed to lay hands on Ubuntu 9.04 and wanted to see if it
fared any better.
It did in one sense which makes me hopeful that it will work but
somewhere down the line something is still amiss
