thanks for confirmation.

It is a pity that ROOT has been removed (consider that CERNLIB, whose
development was stopped in the 2003, is still there...).

Thanks and Happy New Year,
 Angelo.

This Ubuntu package was synced from Debian, and was removed from the Debian
repositories in 2016 (https://bugs.debian.org/827248). It was subsequently
removed from Ubuntu as well, following suit, because we do not keep packages
in Ubuntu that have no maintainer.

I don't have any specific knowledge of this software so I can't say what the
best solution is for users who have need of it. In principle it would be
possible for someone (perhaps upstream) to provide a snap package which
would be installable on Ubuntu 18.04.

ROOT packages not found on bionic

2018-12-31 Thread Angelo Graziosi
It seems that upgrading from Mint 18 (xenial) to 19 (bionic) one loses ROOT
packages (root-system). Does that mean than from bionic onwards one has to
build ROOT directly from CERN sources?

May you confirm? WHY this occurred? Just out of curiosity...

Angelo,
  Thanks.
