It is a pity that ROOT has been removed (consider that CERNLIB, whose development was stopped in the 2003, is still there...). This Ubuntu package was synced from Debian, and was removed from the Debian repositories in 2016 (https://bugs.debian.org/827248). It was subsequently removed from Ubuntu as well, following suit, because we do not keep packages in Ubuntu that have no maintainer. (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/root-system/+publishinghistory) I don't have any specific knowledge of this software so I can't say what the best solution is for users who have need of it. ROOT packages not found on bionic
It seems that upgrading from Mint 18 (xenial) to 19 (bionic) one loses ROOT packages (root-system). Does that mean than from bionic onwards one has to build ROOT directly from CERN sources? May you confirm? WHY this occurred? Just out of curiosity... Angelo, Thanks. -- Ubuntu-motu mailing list Ubuntu-motu@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-motu
