thanks for your fast response.
The version 4.0.1 of tinyxml2 is affected by this problem.
The only Ubuntu distribution using this version is Zesty at the moment.
As Zesty is to this moment the most recent version Ubuntu and still
supported till next January I guess this patch

recently a problem with the tinyxml2 package became apparent in a project (
https://github.com/ros/rospack/issues/77).
The problem is related to the occurrence of multiple declarations in a XML
file.
A merge accounting took place in the of last year solving that problem
