Yes. I tried the Android File Transfer with my MX4 yesterday. Nothing.
I believe that the "bad batch" theory is very true on the MX4.Even my
amazing Windows 10 discovery didn't work the following day.

I’ve tried this with the Nexus 4 and never got it to work. Seems like it
depends on what device you have.

Michi.

Hi Bob!
If you want browse and transfer files from any Ubuntu/Android
device(both internal memory and SD card) to your Mac OS try this:
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
I've tested it with bq E4.5/E5 and M10 and works like a charm.

This is probably of interest only to a very small number of people on this
list, but this evening I have accidentally discovered that the Meizu MX4
Ubuntu Edition's USB seems to work really well with Windows 10 on a Surface
Pro 3.

Owncloud is simple - setup and it just works
dont have to worry about wires the photos just appear on each device
automatically
there is a app out there if you can setup your own server which you
just apt-get install owncloud
add the users install the owncloud click and configure and your away :-

Only reason I use ssh/sftp is being too lazy to grab my phone and plug it into
my laptop. That's way too much work! I use OwnCloud as primary now. Then
FileZilla (but will skip that and just use Nautilus instead). Plugging it in
and drag/drop is a last resort.

nah, it is rather the fact that USB is unreliable on the MX4 ...

Yeah, I think it would be good if we find an alternative.I experience some
issues with MTP as well and I think it is too limited.

Indeed, I myself use sftp too because MTP isn't reliable enough to copy
bigger chunks of data for me. For my wife, it mostly just fails to
connect to the phone at all

The best and fastest means is USB. But if you insist on using a network
connection, just enable SSH, then use Nautilus. You can press Ctrl+L and

FileZilla makes the ssh/sftp/scp process much easier. If you have ssh
access to your phone, FileZilla makes it pretty trivial to drag 'n drop
files. You mentioned Macbook. FileZilla appears to be ported to Mac,
although I've only tried the Ubuntu version.

Most people on this list seem to use ssh/scp. That's what I use. It's
not at all convenient. But if you're using Ubuntu Touch I'd say you'll
more likely than not need ssh at some point.
Apparently there's been good progress getting synchronisation to
ownCloud working:

Any recommendations on the best means for getting photos OFF my Meizu MX4
Ubuntu Edition device?
I'm having issues getting the device to show up via "adb devices".I'm
not using Facebook anymore, so uploading there isn't an option.I
suppose I could e-mail them to myself?
