the unity8 code, so that is the immediate place where to start
investigating.
Given the library it crashes it is probable the bug is in lower layers
(media-hub, something else) but it's may also be that the Qt Multimedia
I can reproduce what Michi mentions.
The problem is that the playbackState of Audio never stops being
PlayingState when the song finishes.

The width of an Icon {} depends if the Icon is an SVG coming from
image://theme/ or a JPG.
For the SVG the width grows as the units.gu grow, but for the JPEG it
does not and one has to manually add code to maitain the aspect ratio.

According to the attached callgrind trace (obtaining scrolling up/down
the fake_ubrick_scope) one can see that calls to Image item setSource
end up intercepted by UCQQuickImageExtension::setSource that goes ends
up in UCUnits::resolveResource
That takes 23% of the total CPU
