I can tell you from experience running an open bravo server you will want
all the hardware performance you can get. Go hardware raid.

There are several variables in this but here goes:
KVM is a great community option which is widely supported and I would say is
your best option if you plan on Ubuntu being the host operating system.
Now that said VMware has several options, and is a very mature
virtualization technology. Wiht VM
While the cost is allot, it is in line with the rest of the industry. Have a
look at other specialized training similar to this.
A few examples:
Red Hat Cert.
CISSP Boot Camps
MCSE Boot Camps
CCNA Boot Camps
In retrospect to these training sessions and others like them, its a
reasonable cost.
