are root.root with no acl on it.

I tested the fix posted on 2008-09-08 but I didn't test the proposed fix
as the system went live (we manually installed the .deb from 8.10 which
is a later version) - if this still needs checked I suppose I can set up

The cyrus user *is* in the sasl group. However the permissions on
/etc/sasldb2 are root.root.
I believe this should either be cryus.sasl or as a minimum root.sasl

Proposed release note:
Cyrus SASL creates the database for its sasldb2 plugin with incorrect
permissions. As a result, other users of this database, such as cyrus-
imap, will not be able to access it and will fail. This does not affect

This IS NOT fixed. Using 4.2.4p4+dfsg-3ubuntu2 on 8.04.1 I have 3
machines doing this and ALL failing.
The NTP server comes up down like a yoyo during system boot - which is
laughable.
The when ntpd is executed from init.d to bring the services up as expected it
fails becuase the socket isnt

No, not that I can see. Nothing in dmesg, nothing in /var/log/syslog and
nothing in /var/log/messages, and nothing in /var/log/samba/*.

installs, upgrades, or a mixture?
How are their network interfaces managed?
Are they running Ubuntu, or Ubuntu-server?
In re-reading this bug-report, I can see there are many issues that
appear to affect this bug and the NTP
I tested the commands, Thierry, and there was no difference. I didn't
really hold out a lot of hope, though, because I don't run the WPA
supplicant. Everything works perfectly when I umount the CIFS
filesystems before shutting down. I also found that Suspend and
Hibernate modes work better too

All fresh installs. ntp installed POST installation via apt-get.
Ubuntu Server 8.04.1 Kubuntu Desktop 8.04.1 KDE4 Remix.
Mixture of DHCP and static IP.
- As an example the desktop I am email from had 4 network interfaces. 2
static IP and 2 DHCP all specified under /etc/network/interfaces. 2
