I can confirm this behavior only with the colon in their name. I tested the other examples in these posts ( ) @ with no incident. I'm thinking this is specific to samba, since using nautilus the file does appear to copy ok at first, but when viewing from a windows machine the original file never

I want to add this detail. The File lenght on the Target Share was not an issue. There were files in the same folder with longer filenames. But some Filenames were truncated to 17 chars.
