With respect to /etc/init/eucalyptus-cc-publication-ip.conf is it entirely
necessary to withdraw the hostname.local mDNS entry when eucalyptus-cc is
stopped?
I note that the CC is announced separately at a service level, so I suspect
there is no harm in continuing to

We talked about this at UDS Lucid and this is something I'd like to fix for
Lucid. Conceptually, this is not too hard, since all we should have to do is
adjust /etc/apparmor.d/tunables/home to have:
@{hom...@{homedirs}/*/ /root/
@{HOMEDIRS}=/home/ /home/*/
However, this gets quite complicated
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: whois
Greetings!
whois on Ubuntu 8.04 does not appear to know how to look up IPs in
recently-allocated ranges:
rtuc...@framboise:~$ whois 109.74.192.103
Unknown AS number or IP network. Please upgrade this program.
rtuc...@framboise:~$ apt-cache policy
Those are not harmful, but getting rid of them in the output wouldn't
hurt.

Comment #8 seems to prove libsmbclient is working properly...
Furthermore samba hasn't changed (yet) from karmic to lucid, so probably
not a regression there. Reassigning...
** Summary changed:
- samba fails to open shares because of fixed unknown password
+ [lucid] Nautilus asks password for
I can't reproduce that.
When I access the share I'm prompted for a user/password, and the file is being
created with those credentials.
Supposing you shared SHARED_DIRECTORY as YOUR_SHARE_NAME:
please post the contents of /var/lib/samba/usershares/YOUR_SHARE_NAME
and the output of ls -ld
Discussed on #ubuntu-server with ttx, jdstrand, and myself. Agreed to
set the template homedir to /home/likewise-open/%D/%U moving forward in
Lucid. However, we'll not try to move any home directories on upgrade.
Rather, we'll leave things as they are.
