In the last 2 days I am not able to upgrade ubuntu10.10. using synaptic.
The upgrade process freezes when upgrading dovecot-common.
also
apt-get install --reinstall dovecot-common
Freezes I think during the post instalation script.

went as far as using a recovery console, but it won't go away.

I'm encountering this problem when running apt-get upgrade.
After the package dovecot-common 1:1.2.12-1ubuntu4 has its files
replaced, I get a message stating that the ssl keys are already in
place, and then the install freezes. I have to open another term, kill
the running dpkg processes, run
I read about how it unlinks after creation, so I think in general have just a
commented line like this in /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu is ok:

Misunderstanding how to generate a postfix .db file, I ran postfix -u
FILE where FILE was a valid sasl_passwd file; this gives a segmentation
fault. Same thing with an empty FILE.

Clint, I appreciate your assistance with this but I am sorry to say that
I believe I've wasted your time.
I did some intensive digging on this and discovered that all signs point
to a hardware issue on one of the SCSI buses. MySQL appeared to be the
trigger; with the most disk writes/reads. It
