I chose this approach as the fix required needs to be applied within
misc/email-3.5.8.tar.gz which is expanded during the package build
process.
I can rework this into a patch for the _parseaddr.py contained with
misc/email-3.5.8.tar.gz and patch instead of overwriting if you would

Yeah, the fact that this isn't even being worked on since this problem

I am seeing the exact same thing. Does not matter the version of nfs, I
am using nfs3.
I am using wireless to share /home directories. If you shutdown within
a gnome session it just hangs. If you log out and then use the shutdown
from the login screen it does shutdown.
