Mathias - This is a regression from behavior that was dependable in
hardy LTS, and now fails in lucid LTS. Being able to retrieve network
interface transfer totals is an essential feature for libvirt.

Serge - I did as you requested. When running the guest using that kvm
command, and then accessing it with vncviewer, I still get the same
black screen. 'top' on the server shows the process using 99% cpu.

I tried the same steps and did not get /dev/sdh as the root, but I see
that they do both have the same label, and concur that labels may not be
the best way to differentiate these volumes.
UUID also isn't unique, so I'm at a loss to identify a good way to
determine which is which.
Either way,
Hello Ernest, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and

There seems to be a directory missing:

Hello Erik, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and

It would appear that your passwd file was locked for some reason:
useradd: cannot lock /etc/passwd; try again later.
adduser: `/usr/sbin/useradd -d /var/run/xrdp -g xrdp -s /bin/false -u 117 xrdp'

This is a known issue that does not have an obvious solution. Basically,
you need to configure mysql-server
Hi Jeff, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and help
us make Ubuntu better.
I just tried to reproduce this, albeit running a Linux vm since I don't
have win2k3. kill -9 on the kvm process just resulted in kvm's death,
but my ssh session worked fine.
I used these steps:
EBS volumes and snapshots create this sort of problem regularly for me,
generally with conflicting duplicate XFS UIDs which I have to override.
The best solution for EC2 AMIs may be to always accept that /dev/sda1 is
the boot disk.

attaching a volume to maverick instance may boot off it
Good question. I'm experiencing some issues with the root filesystem
(only one fs on this system) being busy on reboots, running a lsof from
umountroot shows that sshd is still running, which could be a reason for
the root fs to be busy. How can this be fixed properly in lucid?

As this information is not that easy to come by, here is a sample code for
domain xml file. You have to specify driver tag with attribute type set to the
image type. (Or alternatively, as described in security notice, adjust the
'allow_disk_format_probing'
option in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf)
We now use the type= part.
Something different but also related to this new behavior.
Live migration seems to crash the VM with VM's started before the upgrades. I
can't reproduce it beceause all hosts are upgraded and I now don't do live
migrations anymore because of 3 fails out of 3.
The live

My bad.
libvirt-migrate-qemu-disks is unable to migrate my disks. The dumpxml output is
the same after using libvirt-migrate-qemu-disks.
Thats why a live migration failes.

I have an additional data point: the ssh daemon does not actually crash,
it just stops responding for a few minutes. The connection was left
intact during today's experiment, but no input was processed. It looks
like a frozen connection, but it did come back into an active state
eventually.

That sounds like a potential problem with the bridge. Can you send the
results of

ls /etc/libvirt/qemu/networks/autostart
cat /etc/libvirt/qemu/networks/default.xml
ifconfig -a

kill -9 kvm crashes ssh daemon

The broken code was moved into a different file in Lucid, and the
mistyped mask was fixed as well.
This problem only affects Karmic, and only if you explicitly specify an
IP address, don't specify a netmask, and give an IP address whose first
octet is between 128 and 192 (non-inclusive)
