The ip-addres 169.254.169.254 for metadata service is now found in the
ifconfig. I think this is done by some registrations in the cloud.
So, i think: you must register something (Walrus or Cluster) before
reboot, when eucalyptus-nc is installed on the same server.

I tried running natty guests and the results were actually slightly
slower. This makes sense as kvm is a host component and qemu is
affiliated with kvm. Presumably there is no guest component?

I have the same problem. I am using virt-install and I get the following
error:

From reading the VirtualBox site they had the same problem, that none of
the emulated sound cards would work with 64bit Windows 7/2008 as they
are all too old chipsets. They solved it by adding a new sound card to
Virtual Box ('Intel HD Audio'). But appears this remains a compatibility
