I've tested the packages (especially qemu*) from lucid-proposed
successfully. This time on a different machine but same hard- and
software setup as before. Intense read and write tests on a 2TB
filesystem ran for 24h without corrupting the filesystem.

Partly because after upgrading grub the old /boot/grub/grub.cfg is
removed, then grub-install called. Leading to grub installed without
loading /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
Solution: reinstall grub by issuing command grub-install dev.
The installation script will have to call grub-install dev *after*
The unknown commands in file /boot/grub/grub.cfg are ignored by grub.
They are setting background and foreground color. This has changed in
grub lately. update-grub should be fixed to use the new syntax.

Workaround:
- after Upgrading *do not allow the upgrade routine to reboot!!* (press 'N').
- find your boot device, then execute grub-install dev
- reboot

Sry! Messed up two bugs.
Removing required mounted TYPE=nfs makes the whole thing work.

Please run multipathd with '-v4', and after a few events post
/var/log/daemon.log. This should have some very useful info.
I'd also be curious to see what
/sbin/mpath_prio_netapp /dev/n
gives you for a valid n.

the proposed solution (patched sendsigs, libvirt-bin.conf, omit-kvm-vm-pids)

out that the corresponding pids of running virtuals are successfully included
in the omitpids array in sendsigs. Hovever, the virtuals

With this kernel patch applied, the problem appears solved for me.
I did first try my hand at a 'proper' fix, in two different ways, but
failed.
The patch probably won't apply 100% cleanly, but only because two of the
lines being removed have changed. Ignore that and make the patch apply.
