Put that entry into /etc/nslcd.conf as you suggested (and as the man
page suggests) and removed my 'host' attribute which should prevent me
from logging into my upgraded 12.04 system but it didn't. (NSCD NSLCD
running, libnss-ldapd and libpam-ldapd installed configured)
Obviously I
I agree it's not wishlist. I'll try and look at getting the update
tested soon.

Unable to create Node:
Apparently I have a related problem after an upgrade from 11.10 done using
do-release-upgrade. The troubled server has all the partitions on a software
RAID 1. With the new kernel (3.2.0-24.37) it failed to mount the root
partition, dropping to a busybox shell. After booting the ol kernel I
more detailed information on how I installed lxc with a bridge already
configured:
# sudo aptitude install lxc
installation will abort (as in the first post)
edit /etc/default/lxc changing USE_LXC_BRIDGE from true to false.
# sudo aptitude remove lxc sudo aptitude install lxc
that's it.

Upstream bug referenced here is about cache storage failures during
startup/reconfigure. Which seems a bit at odds with resolv.conf loading
errors, although it may be a secondary bug result of the resolv.conf
reconfigure action being successfully triggered very early after
startup.

Quick update to my previous update: after rebuilding initrd image with
dmraid kpartx it's all good, now 3.2.0-24-generic finds the root
partition and loads the OS.
