According to the Debian bug, this was fixed upstream in 4.2.8p1 and
Debian sid is now on 1:4.2.8p4+dfsg-3 so I think that means this is
fixed in Debian. Ubuntu will pick it up on the next merge which I am
expecting to be done this cycle.

Setting net.ifnames=0 in livecd-rootfs was a quick hack for wily, but
this is really inconvenient. This means that the cloud images now stop
being usable for non-cloud workloads (or even for cloud workloads with
multiple NICs).
The proper fix would be for cloud-init to generate a network config

Just installed ubuntu 15.10 and the cpu fan started increasing in speed
for no apparent reason at random times then slowing down... most
annoying. Whilst investigating this I thought I would try fancontrol...
but this did not seem to be able to help leaving the cpu fan blasting
away at full speed
