I'm encountering a similar enough problem that I think it is the same. Fresh Ubuntu 10.04 server, installing mysql- server-5.1_5.1.41-3ubuntu12_amd64.deb (and dependencies) from official repos, the install seemed to work but mysql doesn't start. 'start mysql' just shows "start: Job failed to start"
On the other hand, `sudo -umysql /usr/sbin/mysqld` starts it with no errors. How can I better troubleshoot the service's issues? -- package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/627723 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
