same for me but samba exits with a core dump, so i think its not wishlist, its a bug I configured in smb.conf interfaces = vmnet8 vmnet1 bind interfaces only = yes so that samba is only accessable by the vmware guest. BTW: In /etc/rc2.d vmware (S19) starts prior to samba (S20), thats the next
