[Bug 360689] [NEW] Default Ubuntu configuration is backscatter source in Jaunty

2009-04-13 Thread Imre Gergely
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: amavisd-new The default Jaunty config of amavisd-new comes with the option $final_banned_destiny set to D_BOUNCE. This setting causes mail with banned attachments (like .com files) getting bounced back to the sender. This in turn can cause backscatter, wh

2009-04-13 Thread Imre Gergely
Correction: the bounce is caused by a banned attachment, not a virus. Viruses get discarded. But the banned filenames still cause backscatter. -- Default Ubuntu configuration is backscatter source https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/306889 You received this bug notification because you are a member o

Not sure if I did the tests right, but here it is. I did the following: - installed the stock amavisd-new on Intrepid, sent a test mail, and got a bounce back to the sender. - removed amavisd-new with purge - enabled intrepid-proposed, installed amavisd-new from there, checked the conf, the two

I'm not sure what you were trying to do exactly. As far as I can tell for the dkpg logs, you removed postfix twice, then you reinstalled it, and at the last reinstall it wouldn't start. Did you change anything in /etc/postfix ? Is that directory even there? Did you remove the directory after uninst

Can you be more specific on this? Do you have snmpd running on all 35 servers, and it hangs on all of them ? When it hangs, do you have to kill the process? Does it use up CPU? ** Changed in: net-snmp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- net-snmp process hang on hardy https://bugs.launch

I'll be leaving this open for a bit more, and I'll try to reproduce it. Is there a way for you to try it once more on Intrepid? ** Changed in: openssh (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- openssh clients on 7.04+ do not work with some ssh2 servers, while 6.10's ssh does. https://bugs.la

Tried to reproduce the problem, installed a Gutsy in virtualbox, and tried to connect to several different ssh servers (with different versions), through double NAT (guest -> host -> linksys router) but they all connected. Is it possible to do a tcpdump for port 22 on the outgoing interface, maybe

2009-02-24 Thread Imre Gergely
Is this still a problem with newer releases (Hardy, Intrepid) ? Because Edgy and Feisty are no longer supported, and Gutsy goes out of support in 2 months, it's likely the bug won't be resolved ever if it's not found in newer releases. -- openssh clients on 7.04+ do not work with some ssh2 serve

I probably won't add anything new to this, but here it goes: I've just installed Hardy for a mail/dns/webserver with a NTP server also and I ran into this little 'bug'. - machine boots, NTP is stopped and started when eth0 (statically configured) comes up - down the line, NTP is again started wi
