Ok... so further investigation: Fresh Natty install on an IBM server with BMC using the latest ISOs as of 8 March. Looking in /lib/modules/2.6.38-5-generic/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ shows that the drivers are present. No IPMI packages are installed: First I install ipmitool: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$
