This error is present regardless whether maas is in use. Even using freeipmi locally fails to set ipmi parameters or get sdr readings with an error similar to: map pfn expected mapping type uncached-minus for d7fa-d7fa1000, got write-back This is present in saucy using openipmi and freeipmi.

Public bug reported: For Quantal and Raring you're able to successfully boot the img file with kvm without supplying any cloud-config data. However 12.04.2 seems to require it as the VM will halt and never complete and display a boot prompt. Expected Result: (Works in Quantal and Raring)
