ff:ff::ip-v4-address and ip-v4-address the same (they are not, but this
is what ntpd thinks of). Since ip-v4-address is already opened, opening
0::ip-v4-address and ff:ff::ipv4-address will fail, because ntpd just
strips off the higher bits

the interface given will be assigned an address. Not all connected
interfaces! dhclient is broken if it assigns identical addresses to all
connected interfaces. It only has to assign one address to the given

If I search ldap using "ldapsearch" I do get all defined groups and users.
Accessing ldap via "getent (passwd|group)" I do again get all groups or users.
using "id" does not give back all groups a user belongs to. The system behaves,
as if there are only local groups available.

The "unknown" commands in file /boot/grub/grub.cfg are ignored by grub.
They are setting background and foreground color. This has changed in

I've tested again:
group bind has users: dhcpd
group dhcpd has users: bind
apparmor.d/usr.sbin.named
apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd3
both have a line:
/etc/bind/** r, -> apparmor allows them to read the file.
/etc/bind is owned by bind:bind, rwxrwx---
/etc/bind/rndc.key is owned by bind:bind, rw-r---
The standard location for rndc.key is, since it belongs to "bind"-Tools:
/etc/bind/rndc.key
It should be sufficient to add this whole directory to both: named and dhcpd in
apparmor.d
BTW: it would be nice if named used /etc/named for its configuration
files! Named and bind-tools are two things o
Networking setup is quite simple: the machine in question does only have
one network interface:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.4
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
iface eth0 inet6 static
address :::192.168.1.4
netmask 96

samba.schema is in samba-doc --- a package I did not install because:
why shall I have docs installed on a server?
I'd propose samba.schema to have it's own package making clear holding
sample configurations for ldap.

There is no hint nowhere on how to reset an "unwilling to perform" LDAP-
Server in Ubuntu. None of the howtos do have neccessary information.
It is said "dpkg-reconfigure" shall reset the configuration. But why

Samba schema is missing from samba installation and related parts.
This means:
if one likes to install samba schema into his ldap-server he/she must:
1. get an other distribution. SuSE, Debian, Fedora, FreeBSD or else will do.
2. Install this distr
After about an hour it generated output!
Maybe we shall have some message it is working on key generation
