I've checked it, we have a puppet user in NIS but no puppet group. Btw. I
don't think that NIS is directly the problem, I would expect the same problem
with
ldap.
I think the script should check with getent if ther is a puppet user and only
if there is no it should create
the account.

The current logic is that the script looks for a puppet user, and if
that doesn't exist then it creates a puppet user and group.
Do you by any chance have a puppet user but no group in NIS? What do you
think the
