I run git 1:1.7.9.5-1 in precise.  This might be a bug in git or
etckeeper which I use to keep track of the /etc/ directory.  Here's what
I did as root:

# cd /etc/
# git commit NetworkManager/

The commit message being pulled up looked like everything was fine,
indicating that the .etckeeper file was changed but not included in the
commit.  When I checked the commit subsequently with "git whatchanged" I
learned that the .etckeeper file had been included.

         Status: Invalid
