no i didnt. At some point i just solved my problem and ran an older
openvpn package and now iam running ubuntu 8.10 anyway.

2.1_rc7 had problems in tls-remote parameter handling (and others) due to bad
X509 parameter extraction functions. A package fixing that issue has been
published into hardy-proposed, could you please enable that repository and test
if it fixes your problem ?

Ubuntu 8.10's openvpn package.

I'm having a similar problem. I'm using openvpn 2.1_rc7 386 on the client side
and the tunnel to the openvpn server has a very high latency with frequent
drops in connectivity. Using openvpn 2.0.9 on the same machine with a different
OS works fine.
